In case you haven't heard Facebook's 26-year-old founder Mark Zuckerberg is Time's Person of the Year.

Only 25-year-old Charles Lindbergh, Time's first Man of the Year 83 years ago was younger.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, the popular choice, lost out mainly because he's a destroyer and Zuckerberg's a builder, according to what Time's managing editor Rich Stengel said on CNBC Wednesday morning when the magazine's choice was unveiled.

Zuckerberg's official citation reads "for connecting more than half a billion people [a tenth of the world's population] and mapping the social relations among them (something that has never been done before); for creating a new system of exchanging information that has become both indispensable and sometimes a little scary; and finally, for changing how we all live our lives in ways that are innovative and even optimistic."

Zuckerberg came in 10th in Time's online poll, behind Steve Job in seventh place.

Facebook is supposed to be worth $40 billion and Zuckerberg owns about 25% but he apparently isn't ready to IPO. He's building out the platform.
