Describing it as "Cloud-in-a-box," Oracle used the opening day of Oracle OpenWorld to launch Exalogic Elastic Compute Cloud, with CEO Larry Ellison delivering a keynote in which he personally pulled the wraps off.
Ellison expounded upon Oracle's belief that "The Cloud" is a standards-based application development and execution platform.
The Exalogic system, he said, will enable enterprises to run their own cloud in a self-contained system. What Oracle is offering, he explained, is a system of hardware-plus-software "engineered to work together to run all your apps."
