newScale, which just climbed into bed with Eucalyptus last week, is supposed to say at VMworld Tuesday that its FrontOffice Suite supports VMware’s new infrastructure-as-a-service vCloud Director software for building private and public clouds.
newScale - whose President and Chief Executive Officer Scott Hammond (pictured below) spoke at 7the International Conference & Expo in NYC - can serve as a front-end to vCloud Director and provide enterprises and service providers with a policy-based e-commerce IT storefront portal that delivers a consumer-like shopping experience for data center services.
Ya know, your usual storage, network, security and applications – anything from application hosting and software access to infrastructure – including physical resources, virtual machines and private or public cloud environments.
vCloud Director pools compute, storage and networking resources into secure multi-tenant clouds and enables self-service access with automated provisioning. It’s also supposed to pave the way to leveraging interoperable hybrid cloud services and let enterprises extend their data center capacity to compatible public clouds.
newScale’s decision tree “wizard” is supposed to steer users to the right service package to meet their needs – while IT managers control, audit and determine the best placement of workloads.
newScale says it also complements vCloud Director by offering graphical workflow, task management and orchestrated provisioning for the storage, network, security and software associated with any workload in the cloud.
