This is the second in a series of five initial articles, in which I'm going to put my thoughts and findings on the subject of Enteprise Mobility. For this article I've decided to tackle the way that Business is viewing Mobility. This has definately changed over the last few years and has been caused by various factors.
- Economic factors (as mentioned in my first article)
- Diversity of devices (coming onto the market and into their companies)
- Sophistication of devices & device operating systems (opening up innovative designs for mobile applications)
- Ubiquitous high speed networks (allowing always available connectivity)
Mobility is now looked on as a Strategic Platform rather than an item on an accountants spreadsheet. This Strategic platform should deliver precious corporate back-end data, which over 70% still resides on 'legacy' systems, to a wide variety of devices being adopted by their employees.
Business is now looking at Mobility for the Masses, not just for a select few of C Level employees as it may have been in the past. Enterprise Mobility is now in the realm of the Information Worker, giving them mobile access to mission critical data and therefore a competitive edge.
Business really is now embracing the World of Enterprise Mobility
