The Economy and Enterprise Mobility?

Thoughts & findings 1 of 5

This is the first in a series of five initial articles, in which I'm going to put my thoughts and findings on the subject of Enteprise Mobility. For this article I've decided to tackle the Economy, which is effecting us all in various degrees, according to your geographic location.

Firstly I believe that Mobility as a strategy is bucking the trend of any downturn or slowdown in the economies around the world. Look at any analyst report and you will be able to see that Smartphone/Converged Mobile Device (CMD) handset sales are still on the rise, though not as sharply as over a year ago.

Economy

What is being effected by any fluctuation in the economy, is that companies are looking at their investments that they have already made in Mobility, extremely carefully. This is from the basic level of investments, such as the handsets purchased and used for business, upwards. Any investment in mobility is now being looked at as part of the whole Enterprise and not as sometimes before.... in isolation and seperate from the core business.

Businesses still know that Mobility improves productivity and are now looking at Mobility projects to get more return of investment (ROI) out of existing, non-mobile systems.

One thing the Economy must not be allowed to do to Mobility, is to suffocate investment...why?

...The Mobile Enterprise is now, or should be, the front line of any companies business and strategy!
