"Oracle Database 10g Release 2 continues Oracle's track record of performance leadership on HP Integrity servers, providing customers with the highest performance at the best value," said Richard Sarwal, Oracle's vice president, Server Performance, as Oracle and HP announced a new world record TPC-H three terabyte data warehousing benchmark result for Oracle Database 10g Release 2 on HP Integrity servers, demonstrating both companies' ability to manage large-scale data warehouses.
Running on a single HP Integrity Superdome server with 64 Intel Itanium 2 1.6 GHz processors with 9MB cache using the HP-UX 11i operating environment, Oracle Database 10g Release 2 achieved world record performance of 71,847.8 QphH@3000GB with a price-performance ratio of $56/QphH@3000GB.
Utilizing the same number of processors as utilized in an IBM TPC-H benchmark, this record-breaking result outperforms the recently published three-terabyte TPC-H result by IBM DB2 running on an IBM eServer xSeries 346 by more than 30 percent.
HP and Oracle have always been committed to delivering highly available, scalable, reliable and affordable decision support systems," said Don Jenkins, vice president of marketing, Business Critical Servers, HP. "Because HP Integrity servers are designed for managing the most demanding workloads, coupled with the scalability of the HP-UX 11i operating environment, they complement the performance of Oracle Database 10g for customers," he added.
This benchmark adds to the extensive list of Oracle Database 10g performance world records, in which Oracle holds eight of the top nine three-terabyte TPC-H results.
