NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 09/14/09 -- Mike Epps, one of the funniest emerging comedic actors today, is set to release his brand new debut Hip Hop music/comedy album, "Funny Bidness...Da Album," on October 27, 2009. This hilariously entertaining CD features all new material, including original songs, parodies, skits and live comedy. The album will also feature "prank calls" made by Epps to various unsuspecting celebrities.
Some of Hip Hop's biggest stars lend their talents to "Funny Bidness," including Flo-Rida ("Baby Makin Brother") Snoop Dog ("Domestic Dispute") and Slim Thug and Too $hort ("I Da Pimp").
Epps states, "I feel that I can skin this Hollywood cat 9 different ways. I'm just having a good time."
In addition, Epps has been selected to host the 2009 BET HIP HOP AWARDS. Taping on Saturday, October 10 in Atlanta, this exciting annual special will once again celebrate the biggest names in the game, on the mic and in the community. The BET HIP HOP AWARDS will premiere on the network on Tuesday, October 27.
And Epps doesn't stop just there. This fall, his Comedy Special on Showtime -- "Under-rated and Never Faded - Live from Detroit" -- will air on the network on Saturday, October 3rd. The DVD release of this special will hit stores on November 10th.
Epps starred in two feature films this year -- the Summit Films comedy "Next Day Air" alongside Mos Def and Donald Faison, and "Janky Promoters," the comedic reteaming of Epps and Ice Cube for Dimension Films.
Epps first gained notoriety when he appeared in 1995 on the Def Comedy Jam tour and appeared on HBO's "Def Comedy Jam Broadcasts." Since then, Epps has cultivated a stellar film career and has appeared in such films as "Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins," "All About the Benjamins," "Next Friday," "Bait," "How High," "Friday After Next," "Talk To Me," "The Fighting Temptations," "Resident Evil: Apocalypse," "Roll Bounce," "Something New," "Guess Who," and "The Honeymooners." Epps was also the voice of Sonny in "Dr. Doolittle 2" and had a hilarious cameo in the '08 blockbuster "Hancock."
Epps is currently performing stand-up comedy across the nation.
