OSHAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 07/02/09 -- For June 2009, General Motors of Canada dealers delivered 22,334 units, down 31% from a year ago.
"Our June performance reflects the overall softness in Canadian auto sales, but the Canadian-built Chevrolet Impala had a strong month increasing sales by 30.2%," says Marc Comeau, GM of Canada's vice-president of sales, service and marketing. "The Oshawa Car Plant, that builds the Impala, was recognized in June for its continuing quality leadership, winning the J.D. Power and Associates silver plant award for initial quality. Another Canadian-built vehicle, the next generation Chevrolet Equinox will be arriving in dealerships this month and is expected to be a strong performer delivering the best highway fuel consumption of any vehicle in its segment."
June Sales Highlights
- Sales of GM's Midsize Crossovers remain strong - the all-new Chevrolet Traverse continues to gain momentum, while sales of the award-winning Buick Enclave were up 14%.
- The Midsize Crossovers were also awarded the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's (IIHS) "Top Safety Pick for 2009"
