With all the bad economic news coming out of Nevada, it is easy to miss a healthcare bright spot -- the emergence of virtual simulation training of future surgeons. The Virtual Skills Laboratory at University Medical Center (UMC) has been training residents since December 2008 with advanced simulators, allowing them to get hands-on training before operating on humans.
